David E. Bernstein

Dr. David E. Bernstein, MD, MACG, AGAF, FACP, FAASLD is an internationally known
gastroenterologist/hepatologist. He currently is the Director of Gastroenterology and
Hepatology Ambulatory Services -NYU Langone Health Long Island and a Professor Medicine at
NYU Langone School of Medicine. Dr. Bernstein’s research interests include the management
and treatment of liver diseases as well as the development of agents for procedural sedation. Dr
Bernstein has authored or co-authored more than 300 original scientific manuscripts, reviews,
book chapters and abstracts. He has been the principal investigator in more than 200 clinical
trials.
Dr Bernstein has been a consultant to biotech, financial, legal, and pharmaceutical firms. Dr.
Bernstein has been involved in shaping public policy and education regarding liver diseases in
New York State. He served as a special consultant to the New York State Department of Health
and in that role has helped develop and implement New York State’s 5-year Strategic Plan for
Viral Hepatitis as well as work with the group developing the guidelines used for the treatment
of hepatitis C in New York State. Dr. Bernstein is well known for his leadership skills and is an
expert in such areas as medical program development, health care integration, medical
education and curriculum development, clinical care, clinical research, drug development and
clinical trials, and team development.

Adrian M. Di Bisceglie

Dr. Adrian Michael Di Bisceglie has been a consultant to biotech and pharmaceutical companies
for more than 30 years now. He is a prominent hepatologist who served as President of AASLD
in 2014 and was a long-time department chairman at Saint Louis University. He has published
extensively in liver disease with an emphasis on viral hepatitis and hepatocellular carcinoma.
After his time in academia, Dr. Di Bisceglie served as Chief Medical Office for HighTide
Therapeutics from 2019 to 2023 and has since then devoted himself exclusively to consulting.
He has developed special expertise in metabolic diseases, including MASH, diabetes and
hyperlipidemia, viral hepatitis, hepatocellular carcinoma, end-stage liver disease and the use of
targeted therapeutic peptides. Dr. Di Bisceglie has established referral networks throughout
the United States and abroad, in hepatology and multiple other disciplines and has served as an
advisor to the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and
the Food and Drug Administration.

Stephen Chris Pappas

Dr. Pappas is a physician-attorney and pharmaceutical and medical device company consultant.
His prior clinical practice, over thirty-five years, was largely in transplant hepatology and
gastroenterology. He has conducted clinical research in private practice and academic medical
settings, in addition to overseeing clinical drug development, pivotal clinical trials and extensive
FDA interaction as senior executive in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. His legal
practice currently focuses on regulatory compliance, medicolegal ethics, evaluation of expert
testimony in commercial and clinical settings, conflicts of interest, fraud and contract issues in
clinical research.
Dr. Pappas has written and lectured on diverse aspects of clinical drug development, clinical
trials and conflicts of interest as well as evidence-based medicine and expert witness testimony.
He is a member of the American Bar Association’s Health Law Section and former Chair of the
ABA Medical Research, Biotechnology and Clinical Ethical Issues Interest Group. He is a Fellow
of the American College of Legal Medicine and Fellow of the American Association for the Study
of Liver Disease. He is licensed to practice medicine in Texas and Indiana and is a member of
the State Bar of Texas, admitted to practice in Texas State Courts and the United States District
Court, Southern District of Texas.
Dr. Pappas received his MD from Queen’s University at Kingston, Canada and his JD, summa
cum laude, from South Texas College of Law.
